Welcome to Indy Dog Pro

We’re experienced dog people who, unlike others in the industry, still LOVE dogs. Our goal is to help dog owners develop rewarding and fulfilling relationships with their pets. That kind of relationship is ALWAYS what’s best for the human and what’s best for the dog.

After decades of working with pets and owners, we KNOW the BEST way to help is… turning owners into TRAINERS. Why? There are so many reasons.

Here are just a few:

1. Avoid Unscrupulous Trainers

They “cash in” on your desperation. They’re not who they claim to be, and they’re not providing what they say they will. Because you don’t know the difference — and are in need — you can end up getting taken advantage of.

Unfortunately, manipulated reviews and dog-training terminology can make someone seem qualified or caring — even when they’re not delivering on their promises. It’s like visiting a mechanic. He could tell you anything… you probably wouldn’t know the difference.

2. Train Your Dog with Methods That Best Fit THEM

When you pay a trainer, they often do what they want, their way — especially during a board-and-train.

Jokes aside, there are lots of ways to skin a cat. Your dog is unique. Your situation is unique. Your training approach should match your circumstances and align with your views regarding the methods and approaches you believe are best for your pet.

Make these decisions correctly and, at the very least, you’ll do no harm. If you don’t… you’ll likely hurt the dog more than help.

3. Most “Trainers” Don’t Care About Your Situation

They simply want to get paid. They’ll say what they think you want to hear. They couldn’t care less about your lifestyle, your dog’s personality, or your timeline.

They definitely aren’t going to change their ways and take the time to develop methods and approaches that FIT you.

Be assured, they’ll offer something that SOUNDS okay. They’ll “throw” a lot at you, but in the end — after they get paid and move on — you’ll still have the problems… IF they didn’t make those problems worse.

4. Avoid Abuse

If pet owners knew what was happening behind the scenes with many trainers (or fully understood what they’re seeing in front of them), they’d go crazy.

These types of “trainers” use compulsive tools too often and way too soon. They claim the e-collar or prong won’t hurt your pet. They claim your animal doesn’t see these tools as punishment… that’s total bull.

If you believe that, put one of those collars on and take a few “yanks” and “stims” yourself.

Don’t misunderstand — there is a place and time for e-collars, prongs, and other tools — but it’s not what many are telling you.

These devices are tools like any other tool. You don’t need a sledgehammer to drive in a tack.

In most cases, using compulsive tools inappropriately is only a shortcut — a shortcut that can psychologically and physically hurt your dog. Not to mention, many (most?) dogs simply don’t understand why they’re being punished.

It’s like someone yelling at you in Italian and then punching you because you didn’t respond correctly. Would that make you want to train more?

5. Never Need a Trainer Again

You paid them when the dog was a puppy. Then paid again when the dog was around a year old. Then again and again as problems continued.

The trainer loves hearing the cash register ring. Why would they want you to know how to fix these issues yourself?

Your plumber doesn’t want you to know how to fix your sink either.

6. Develop a Great Relationship

Whoever does the training has a great opportunity to bond with the dog. That person gets to have the relationship we all want with our pets.

That person should be the owner — not a stranger who doesn’t live with the dog.

7. Save Money

Don’t waste it. If you’re going to spend money, at least get something lasting in return.

By becoming a trainer, you’ll be able to help your family and friends with their pet problems and have great relationships with dogs for your entire life.

Not to mention, you’ll have fun and discover a new passion!

Common Misconceptions About Becoming a Dog Trainer:

“It’s really involved and complex.”

That’s what training academies and online courses — which charge tens of thousands of dollars — want you to think.

The truth is… dog training is NOT that complex. It’s not rocket science.

You only need to know and have a good working application of the basic principles, tools, and techniques.

The methods and approaches are adjustable — and SHOULD be modified and customized to fit each dog. These “BASIC” principles always work and always have.

Even what seems to be very advanced training is, in reality, only an evolution of these basic principles.

We’ve been teaching the “trainers” for years. They’re not superheroes. They’re no better than anyone else. There is no such thing as a “dog whisperer.”

Built on Experience. Focused on Education.

We ran the first PSA club in Indianapolis and are now the U.S. headquarters for the K-9 Grand Prix League. We have trained dogs for over 30 years.

After watching the dog industry explode and seeing unscrupulous trainers flood in, we believe the only way to truly help dogs and their owners is through education.

Learning dog training — with the right coaching and methods — is easily obtainable… and it’s fun.

Our training combines visual learning, experiential learning, and analytical learning. It takes all three — but it doesn’t have to be expensive or require months of full-time training.

You can accomplish so much with our step-by-step study material — right from your own home. However, you will need some personal attention too.
